What

is

You Have Hope?

Truth from Scripture. Hope for all people.

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.
Romans 15:4

God’s Word is the book of hope.

Scripture offers hope to those who do not know Jesus Christ. The true hope of eternal life and heaven is found in knowing Christ. Through Christ, God has provided hope of overcoming sin, Satan, and this world. Moreover, the place we find the accurate presentation of Jesus Christ is the Word of God. Click here (link to gospel presentation) to find out more about what the Bible says concerning the hope Christ provides.

Scripture offers hope to those who are God’s people. For all those who are bombarded with the problems and issues that we face today, God’s Word has the answer, offering the hope we need. At times we can feel hopeless and helpless, but we turn to the Word of God for both hope and help. Psalm 119, a landmark passage in the Old Testament, presents a believer in a place of difficulty, almost like an emotional roller coaster. Yet he constantly turns to the Word of God saying, “This is my comfort in my affliction, for thy Word hath quickened me.” And, “It was good for me to be afflicted, that I might learn Your statutes.” (119:50, 71) Many times God allows us to go through a dark, difficult time, because He wants to teach us new truth from Scripture. Some of those truths are no better learned except through times of suffering, which is often times God’s tool to bring us to sanctification. In fact, when we suffer, we share in the sufferings of Christ—we follow in His footsteps when we suffer. First Peter refers to the cross often, yet never with an evangelistic purpose. Peter magnifies the cross as an example how Christians are to suffer as Christ suffered. 1 Peter 2:21 – “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps.” In the Word, God is teaching us to look to Him and to fully trust Him, even in suffering.

Though we face troubles, we can all sit down and list the multitude blessings of God in combination with the suffering. God has designed life with the blessings to remind us of His grace and His mercies which are new every morning and the burdens that remind us that this world is not our home, that we are to look to God and trust Him every day of our lives.

Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech.
2 Corinthians 3:12

This is the reason why You Have Hope exists— to preach the clear, inspired, sufficient Word of God without compromise and with true conviction so that listeners learn, understand, and trust the Hope which God has provided in His Word. Our desire is to glorify God through clear, expositional preaching and teaching of Scripture, which gives strength, comfort, and encouragement to God's people and hope to the lost. We seek to communicate God's truth through various media outlets: radio, internet, audio and video recordings, and other printed material.

God has given us everlasting hope! Find it here at You Have Hope.

You Have Hope was founded in 2009 from the pulpit ministry of Dr. Jerry R. Harmon, associate pastor of Grace Bible Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD.
